The Best Haircuts for Round Faces

I had recently gotten my hair trimmed, and ever since then, I have been contemplating getting a new haircut. I have had my current hairstyle for three years now, and I am feeling adventurous. While I patiently wait out the three months before making an appointment, I have decided to live vicariously through my readers.

Initially, I had wanted to write about the best haircuts for every face shape, but since I want to suggest a number of hairstyles for each face shape without writing a ridiculously long post, I will instead be making this a series for the different face shapes.

If you are unsure of your face shape, you can refer to this helpful chart below by The Beauty Department.

In this post, we will be exploring the different hairstyles that would suit you if you have a round face.

If you have a round face, you can consider a hairstyle with uneven layers or differing lengths. You can also use it to make your face look thinner by adding a deep side part with long sideswept bangs. If you opt for the bangs, you can use the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Finishing Spray to hold them in place.

{ Long Layers }

This concept is similar to the previous one, but this one is specifically for those of you who have hair past your shoulders. You want to make sure that your hair is layered all the way up to where your jaw is. You can also cut a little bit inward on the sides to achieve subtle angles, but by doing this, your hair might frizz more easily. To prevent frizz, you can try the Moroccanoil Frizz Control.

{ Piecey Bob }

According to hairstylist Jimmy Paul, the key to wearing hair above the shoulders is to "style it imprecisely" and to wear it "intentionally mussed." So, if you decide to go short, make sure that your hair has "movement and wave." A product that can help you achieve that is the TIGI Bed Head Superstar Queen for a Day Thickening Spray.

{ Defined Pixie }

For women with round faces, you can also try a defined pixie. Ending the ends of your hair at such a length will emphasize your cheekbones, giving your face more angular structures. To enhance the dimension and definition of this hairstyle, you can use the Loreal Studio Line Overworked Hair Putty.

{ Angled Bob }

An angled bob is basically a haircut where your ends end at the chin, and it grows progressively shorter as it nears the nape of your neck. An angled bob will provide your hair with structure and angles, and it will balance out a round face. You can also use the Living Proof Full Root Lifting Spray to add volume to your roots.

So, with these ideas in mind, go forth and get a haircut in my place.

  1. very informative! I don't trust many hair dressers, in fact a few years ago when I had mine trimmed they cut off so much that I almost cried! lol I've had long hair all my life and I just went in for a trim!! I have professional shears and I learned to trim my ends.
